i didn’t know, i didn’t know that i was raised in environments where hugging wasn’t a constant until i started dating a woman whose love language flowed so effortlessly from the palms of her hands down through her fingertips.

it was because of her caress that i realized that physical touch is what a child like me [ who grew up neglected ] needed to feel safe and secure in my own body and with my breath.

i am presently learning how to accept more of myself on a day-to-day basis and i am giving myself the permission to ask for what i know is necessary for my growth.

i fall short at times. it is in those moments that i give myself a shit ton of grace and remind myself again and again, that i too am learning. “dear self… fall seven times, stand up eight with our clumsy ass, it’s okay.” it is a new practice and you are doing your absolute best at embracing more, to connect.
